In 1982 two families in Trigg County, KY believed that there was a local need for a church that emphasized the systematic teaching of God’s Word. In April of that year these families came together for regular times of Bible study and fellowship, and during the summer and fall others joined them. Eventually they realized that a pastor was needed to serve in an interim capacity. While pastoring his own church in Clarksville, TN, Rev. Daniel Carfrey graciously agreed to assist in this manner. On January 9, 1983 the church was officially chartered with the state of Kentucky under the name, “Logos Christian Fellowship Church.”
As 1983 continued both the church members as well as the interim pastor concluded that the time had come for the church to call a full-time pastor. In July of 1983 the elder board appointed a “pastoral search committee” which proceeded to solicit and receive resumes from various candidates. By October of that year the names had been narrowed to two. And at a business meeting on November 15th, the membership unanimously called Pastor Daniel R. Swartz to be their first full-time pastor.
After nearly fourteen years of growing together, the second half of the 1990s brought two changes to the church. The first was a change of the church’s name from “Logos Christian Fellowship Church” to the current name on April 28, 1996.
The second change was the construction of a church building. With a “no-indebtedness policy” written into the church’s constitution the members had contented themselves to save toward a future building while meeting in a local American Legion building. During the early 1990s the Lord lead a believer who was not then associated with our church to give four and a half acres of land for the location of a future building. By August of 1996 sufficient funds had been saved and donated to encourage the hiring of an architect and the solicitation of both volunteer and paid workers to assist in the construction. During the next year the Lord wonderfully brought numerous individuals along to assist us in completing our present sanctuary and foyer. And these were dedicated on Sunday, October 25, 1998.
In the year 2000 the second phase of the original church plans was begun. This resulted in the completion of the current fellowship room, kitchen, office and custodial room.
